Me? Here’s a bit more background
I’ve been in marketing since I left school—first at major publishers, then at award winning digital agencies. Finally, I decided to take the skills and insights I’d developed and go out on my own. In 2005, I established Modern Parlance, my freelance content consultancy and I never looked back.
I’ve gone on to work with award winning agencies, FMCG giants, charitable and cultural organisations, small businesses and individuals. And because of my varied background, I bring added value to all stages of the content marketing process—creation, delivery, management and governance.
I am decidedly generalist, adapting to each project’s needs, whether it’s crafting content strategy, managing social media, writing articles or LinkedIn newsletters, creating an editorial calendar, doing research for white papers, or overseeing a comprehensive content audit.
Generalist? Indeed. My core competencies.
Content Marketing & Communications: Expertise in developing and executing comprehensive content strategies that resonate with target audiences. Working with leaders in marketing, communications, and content management has honed my technical, operational, and creative abilities across the content life cycle.
Writing & Editing: Content marketing is about connecting you to your audience, crafting compelling content, and refining messages to maximise audience engagement. That’s what I do.
Client & Stakeholder Management: Strong skills in building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Project Management: Proven track record in managing end-to-end content projects, from planning to execution, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Communication & Collaboration: Experienced in creating and maintaining internal SOPs to ensure consistent quality and alignment.
Supervision & Personnel Management: Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
Indexing: … is… well, let’s put it this way, very senior person at a very well-known publisher once said to me, “You’re an indexer? I’ve heard about you guys, but I never met one. You are like unicorns!” I could go on and on about in a very nerdy way. But only publishers or authors will really care. If you are a publisher or author looking for an indexer, get in touch!
